Ordering finishes
- Measure the real surfaces. Wall area is the room's perimeter times its height; floors are length times width, broken into rectangles where the room is not one.
- Take out openings, add waste. Doors and windows come off; 10% goes back on for cuts, more for cut-up rooms and diagonal layouts.
- Buy one lot. Tile colour and drywall edges vary between production runs. Buy it all at once, with a little to spare.
